The Director of Brand Development is the ultimate facilitator of route-to-market for Saratoga Eagle’s supplier partners. As the leader of the SESS Brand Development (BD) team, the Director is responsible for brand performance and development encompassing the entire portfolio, including beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcohol products across the entire SESS footprint.

The Director is a visionary leader who curates a portfolio that positions Saratoga Eagle for long-term share growth.

Essential Functions (must be able to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation):

Brand Development Team Leadership

· Leads the BD team to bring strategic brands and programs to life at retail

· Provides direction, coaching, and professional development for the BD team

· Creates workflows and variable compensation structure that drives and empowers the BD team to focus on retail activation

· Delivers an aligned result that supports SESS annual commercial goals

Supplier Management

· Develops supplier tiers and engages directly and actively with top tier suppliers

· Oversight of all cents-per-case (CPC) brand investments. Creates an annual CPC roadmap and actively tracks and provides communication on brand spending to SESS executive team

· Collaborates with the Category Management team to develop portfolio priorities and tactics in chain small and large format accounts

· Combines brands and packages from across the SESS portfolio to deliver channel selling strategies and tactics to the field sales team

· Manage all supplier partner relationships through the Brand Development Supplier Rules of Engagement

o Establish revenue, volume, and distribution goals by supplier

o Create marketing plan and promotional spend for each supplier

o Conduct regular budget reviews with key suppliers

o Design new item roll-out planning and programming

o Ensure sales team engagement with all suppliers

Portfolio Management

· Ongoing evaluation and curation of the SESS portfolio across all segments including beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcohol

· Identifies opportunity segments and suppliers to actively recruit

· Oversight of inventory and ordering to limit discounting and out of code product destruction

· Institutes an ongoing evaluation process and cadence for identifying and rationalizing underperforming SKUs & suppliers

Qualifications:

The incumbent must meet the following qualifications:

· Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 7 to 10 years related sales experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous supervisory or management experience and industry knowledge is required.

· Computer Skills: Knowledge of Internet software; spreadsheet software and Power Point software.

· Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must attain and maintain a NYS Solicitor’s permit. A valid driver’s license is required.

· Other Skills and Abilities: Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to successfully negotiate contracts.

· Must be able to travel to satellite offices and in the trade at least 25% of the work schedule. Overnight travel is required.

· Good organizational skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· High level presentation skills are required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. Travels to satellite offices, various client accounts and supplier accounts.
